This wonderful male doll is one of a pair - his companion doll is also for sale. They are dressed in exquisitely handmade Polish costumes and are attributed to the Work Progress Administration, made during the 1930's. I have not found a maker's mark on either doll but I have not completely undressed them.

This beautiful doll has a hand painted face and hair on his wooden head/shoulders. His cloth body, arms and upper legs are partially filled, he has wooden hands and feet.

The amazing attention to detail is continued throughout his handmade costume: White cotton shirt/shift, blue/red felt tunic with red tassels, handmade brown leather belt, red/white stripes trousers, black leather boots and beautiful red felt hat with black wool trim and feathers/ribbons decoration.
