Christ en bois, XVIe siècle  ♦  Wooden Christ, 16th century

Ce Christ présente une posture très droite avec les jambes peu fléchies et les pieds en rotation interne. La cage thoracique est dessinée de manière prononcée avec le rebord costal en arc de cercle en fort relief, et les cotes creusées en stries profondes. Le visage montre un Christ mort avec les yeux clos en amande. La tête est légèrement penchée vers l'avant droite, portant une barbe courte et une chevelure tombant vers l'arrière, à l'exception d'une grande mèche flottant vers la droite.  Le perizonium est fait d'un linge animé de plis verticaux épais retenu par une corde enroulée en double autour de la taille. Un clou factice en bois est présent sur les pieds. La tête est ceinte d'une couronne torsadée qui semble être un ajout ou un remplacement moins ancien.

Bon état général, restes de peinture dorée. Une fissure dans la longueur du corps, sans conséquence sur la solidité de l'ensemble. Petits manques au pied droit. Un clou en fer à l'arrière des pieds.

This Christ shows a very straight posture with little bent legs and feet rotating inside. Rib cage is outlined in a pronounced way with a semi-circle costal margin made in strong relief, and ribs carved in deep ridges. Face depicts a dead Christ with almond shaped closed eyes. The head is slightly resting to the right over the bust, wearing a short beard and hair falling to the back, except for a big lock flapping to the right. Perizonium is made of a cloth animated by thick vertical pleats kept by a rope double coiled around the waist. A false nails is put on the feet. Head wears a twisted crown that seems to be an later addition or replacement.

Good overall condition, remains of gilded painting. A crack in the lenght of the body, of no consequence on global sturdiness. Little lacks of wood on right foot. An iron nail on the back of the feet.
