Description

The RTV162 is a one-part, also called one-component, White RTV silicone sealant for gaps or cracks up to 1/4 inch wide in aerospace, automotive, and appliance applications, such as integrated circuits, semiconductors, and copper components. The sealant will not corrode electronic metals, including copper and Brass, and has excellent electrical insulation properties. This sealant meets military specification mil-a-46146 and has UL recognized components. Specifications maximum width: up to 1/4 inch wide temperature range (for application and service): continuous service range is -75 to +400 Degrees F (-60 to +204 Degrees C); intermittent service range is -75 to +500 Degrees F (-60 to +260 Degrees C) begins to harden: 4 hours time until cured: 7 days (dependent on temperature, humidity, and bead size) compatible materials: many metals, glass, ceramic, silicone rubber, and some rigid plastics without the use of primer paintability: not paintable color: White caulks and sealants are adhesive materials that fill and seal gaps and cracks to keep out water and air. Water-based acrylics can be painted, can be cleaned with water, and require less surface preparation than solvent- and silicone-based caulks and sealants. Water-based acrylic caulks and sealants have less of an odor than solvent- and silicone-based products. Solvent- and silicone-based caulks and sealants are generally more flexible than acrylics and can withstand more sunlight and temperature extremes. They require solvents to clean, are more difficult to remove than acrylics, and generally cannot be painted. Water-based acrylic caulks and sealants with added silicone offer a variety of features, depending on the specific formula.
