From February 23, 2024, the National Bank of Ukraine will introduce a new commemorative banknote "Unity saves the world".
This is the second commemorative banknote issued by the National Bank since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation. It is dedicated to the indomitability of the Ukrainian people in the struggle for freedom and European values, the consolidation of Ukrainian society to protect territorial integrity, and the unification of the democratic world in the face of Russian aggression.
"Over the past two years, we have been convinced more than once of how large-scale the war waged by the Russian Federation against Ukraine has on the whole world. And there is no other way to restore global security and stability in the world, to guarantee a free future, except by united efforts to ensure the Victory of Ukraine. After all, the threat is not limited only to the territory of our state. And what goes on, its overcoming increasingly depends on the unity of everyone. Our new banknote is a symbol of the world's gratitude for their involvement. We are proud of our partners and believe in the strength of their unity, which is also hardening," emphasized Andriy Pyshnyi, the Chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine.
About the features of the banknote
The commemorative banknote "Unity saves the world" with a denomination of 50 hryvnias will be put into circulation on February 23, 2024.
It has the EU series with numbers 0000001–0300000 and the signature of the Chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine Andriy Pyshny.
The commemorative banknote is a legal means of payment and must be accepted by all individuals and legal entities without any restrictions throughout the territory of Ukraine for all types of payments.
At the same time, its circulation is limited to 300,000 pieces (in souvenir packaging), which adds to the banknote's collectible value.
About the protection system
The "Unity Saves the World" commemorative banknote contains all the protection elements of the current nominal series of banknotes - a multi-tone watermark, a protective tape completely immersed in the thicker paper, a through element, optically variable elements OVI and SPARK, relief images, in particular an element for people with impaired vision vision, microtexts and elements that are determined in ultraviolet, infrared rays and have magnetic properties.
In addition, the banknote contains an element made with iridescent paint with a mother-of-pearl effect.
The size of the banknote is 80x165 mm.
About the design of the banknote
The commemorative banknote "Unity saves the world" has a bright and original design, made vertically.
On its front side, in the central part, there is an artistic composition depicting a stylized outline of Ukraine, which is associated with the heart, to which the blood vessels go. The background image is the image of a girl in a military helmet, looking towards the West.
In the lower part, on the background of the globe, there is a stylized image of Europe, from whose countries vessels-routes of help and support for Ukraine seem to depart. Stylized hearts placed between the route vessels symbolize sacrifice and compassion.
A watermark is placed in the center at the top. To the right of the watermark field, there is a through element - a stylized chevron of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and a special relief element in the form of a circle for people with impaired vision. To the left of the watermark field is the inscription UKRAINE and the image of the small State Coat of Arms of Ukraine. Under the field of the watermark on both sides is a stylized composition of filled and contoured squares (the central squares are marked with the denomination of the commemorative banknote), a translucent strip filled with outlines of the logo of the National Bank of Ukraine.
Below the strip in the center of the commemorative banknote is the inscription UNITY SAVES THE WORLD, the vertical inscription NATIONAL BANK OF UKRAINE, the signature of the Chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine and the word CHAIRMAN - in the lower left part; inscription FIFTY HRYVEN - in the central lower part; as well as two text blocks (left and right) in Ukrainian and English:

The numerical designation of the denomination is placed horizontally in the lower right part of the commemorative banknote.
The main image of the reverse side of the commemorative banknote is a symbolic composition of clasped hands symbolizing cooperation, mutual assistance, trust and partnership against the background of a stylized trident, the symbol of the Ukrainian state.
In the upper part of the commemorative banknote, there is a stylized image of the digital designation of the denomination, formed by a protective grid. The inscription FIFTY/HRYVEN is located vertically in the upper right part of the banknote and horizontally in the central lower part. The digital designation of the denomination of 50 is placed horizontally in the upper right part of the banknote and vertically (together with the graphic designation of the hryvnia) in the lower left part of the commemorative banknote.
In the upper part, in the center of the commemorative banknote, there is the inscription UNITY - STRENGTH! At the bottom of the commemorative banknote is the year of its issue - 2024.
The serial number is printed twice. The horizontal number in the direction of reading (with variable height of the digits) is drawn along the upper edge of the commemorative banknote in red paint, the vertical number - along the left edge of the commemorative banknote in black paint.
