I’m very excited to offer for your consideration this super funky, restored, PAIR! of 1950’s atomic pendants.

This pair wholly embodies mid 50’s atomic style, an era of wild modernity. They’re playful, yet, elegant.

I was unable to find this specific fixture in my archive of original lighting catalogs, but they are of high quality. Virden? Lightolier? Murano? I’m not sure, but I would put my money on Lightolier if I had to take an educated guess. The glass is heavy and well made.

I love how the stripes in the “saucers” throw subtle patterns onto the ceiling. One is yellow, the other black. They are separate pieces of glass from the main “cone” bodies, but they are only removable during installation of the fixtures themselves. Both saucers have several small flea bite chips on their inner rims where they rest on the raised bead of the glass cone, but these almost entirely disappear when installed, especially lit.

The finish sheen on these fixtures is entirely untouched, and is subtly irregular in places. I have only gently cleaned the whole with some degreasing agent. I did not want to use anything stronger for fear of accidentally removing any original paint on the insides of the cones, which is also original, and in good vintage condition, showing only very minor wear and scuffing. The glass even has a couple of minor inclusions - this is how you know it’s old! The metal components of this piece are all brand new - appropriate replacements for the original, unsalvageable bits. The porcelain sockets and wiring are also brand new.

The bottom edges of the glass cones are relatively roughly ground. This appears to be their original state, but they have no other chips or losses to speak much of.

If you’ve been looking for something FUN for your mid century foyer, or over a kitchen island/peninsula, this pair might just be it! They might even look neat over a pair of bedside tables.

This scale of these fixtures is ideal for just about any small or medium sized space, measuring about 33 1/2 inches long and 10 inches wide across the glass saucers. The main bodies of the fixtures measure about 11” tall. They’re very versatile. These, again, have been newly rewired and are ready to hang, including all the necessary mounting hardware. Light bulbs are not included.

I can adjust the length down a bit if need be no issue, but I will have to purchase additional wire to lengthen them. Contact me if you need them lengthened and we can work that out for a small additional fee.
