This large vintage Turkmen (Turkoman) headpiece was handcrafted during the mid 1900's for the Ersari sub-tribe of Turkmenistan in Central Asia.

More measurements are listed at the end of this description.

Turkmen jewelry is notoriously large, as is this traditional ghasbaagh headpiece.

It has 2 rows of amulet-links that span the forehead with distinctively Turkmen dangles hanging below. The center was accented with a large beaded pendant.

Long cascades of linked-pendants drape along each side. The connected-pendants were sturdily made and do not bend. They have the shape of adamlyks, or stylized female forms.

This large headpiece has no hooks or links for attaching in  place, so I'm selling it on auction.

In otherwise great condition, it has a rich age-patina and some wear patterns. A few of the dangles may be missing/damaged.

Length of each side cascade = 22.5 inches
Front drop = 6.5 inches (distance between upper/lower edges at center front)
Span across forehead = 13 inches
weight = 11.6 oz
shipping weight = 1 pound + 1 oz
