This antique brass chocolate pot was originally purchased in Gothenburg, Sweden.  It is from the 1870s according to the paperwork that accompanied the pot.  The bottom of the pot is labeled with an S:B and a ½ K.  The letter K refers to “Kanna”, which is Swedish for a pot.

This pot stands approx 8 in tall and 4.75 in wide at the base.  Circumference is approx 14.5 in around the base.  The wooden handle is approx 5.5 in long.

Early chocolate pots have handles that are set at a right angle to the pot, and are usually made of wood with a small knob at the end. The spout at the top of a chocolate pot is wider than that of a coffee pot or teapot so that froth can pour out without obstruction.
