AUTOGRAPH LETTER COUNTER SIGNED BY MARSHALL WALLER CLIFTON.

A 6-line deposition signed by Thomas Boys, stating that from April 1st 1815 to 30th June 1815 he had not been employed either at sea or on shire. Witnessed by Marshall Waller Clifton (1787-1861) of the Admiralty, who later engaged in the colonization of Western Australia. Boys was First Lieutenant in The Britannia in Hotham's action with the French fleet in 1795. He was made an Admiral in 1819.
