Martin, Montgomery.

The Progress and Present State of British India. A Manual for General Use.

SAMPSON LOW LONDON 1862, FIRST AND ONLY EDITION.

Octavo; xi,308p. The illustrations call for two maps and three tables, two of which are folding. In this copy.the large folding map of India, hand coloured in outline, is present. However, the "Map of Euphrates Route to India via Kurachee" is absent, neither does it appear to have ever been bound in this copy. It is odd that the fine large folding map of India is present but the lesser map is not. Copies in national libraries do, though, have two maps. Original blue cloth boards, rubbed. Otherwise a G-VG copy. Though COPAC shows half a dozen copies at least in libraries, this book is very scarce in commerce and holds no auction records. The large map of India is very fine, detailed, and attractive.
