1929 Press Photo Marie Conway poses with ancient pottery excavated in Persia.
A Specimen of Ancient Pottery: New York City: Miss Marie Conway of "Whoopee," with a magnificent specimen of 13th or 14th century pottery excavated in Northern Persia and part of the collection of Kevork Merirdoian of Paris who is now visiting this country. The workmanship of the pottery is delicate and of animal motif, current in the period of the Sassanian King, Bahram Gure, who reigned in the Fifth Century and was very fond of hunting. It is entirely glazed with a translucent turquoise blue, but being buried for centuries under the ground, it has acquired the iridescent hue of gold and silver. Photo measures 8 x 10.25 inches. Photo Is dated 1929.
