This is an original press photo. Columbus, Christopher (Painting). This old engraving by Leo Reiffenstein is submitted by Douglass Welch, Post-Intelligencer writer, as absolute proof (well, almost) that Columbus really did make an egg stand on end to prove that (1) nothing is really impossible and (2) once a thing is done, anyone can do it. Welch (with tongue in cheek) says the picture refutes recent article from Europe by E. T. Stone, managing editor of The Post-Intelligencer, who said the egg incident never happened.Photo measures 8.25 x 10.25inches. Photo is dated 1-16-1957.
