Kakou Yamanaga
Meiji 22 - Showa 48: Born in Oita Prefecture. His real name is Gengo, and he also goes by Kouho. Around 1903, he studied lacquer art at Beppu Technical School in Oita Prefecture. He moved to Tokyo and studied under Kisaburo Watanabe, and was trained by Shisui Rokkaku. He participated in the founding of the Japan Lacquer Art Academy in 1932 and the Shinsho Kogei Association in 1932. After the war, he settled in Gero, Gifu Prefecture. Since his first exhibition at the Commerce and Industry Exhibition in 1922, he has been involved in a wide range of activities, including the Urushi Art Institute Exhibition, the Shinbun Exhibition, and the Japanese Traditional Crafts Exhibition.
