Ibanez serves up another enchanting low-end concoction with its EHB ergonomic headless bass guitar. This unique bass delivers all the sonic power you could ask for without the added weight of a headstock. Its ergonomic design, fast graphite-reinforced 5-piece roasted maple/walnut neck, and smooth roasted maple fingerboard create the perfect surface for precision fretting and untethered grooving. An American basswood body contributes its masterful grasp of resonance and sustain to the overall sound of the EHB while remaining lightweight. The electric stars of this show are two premium Bartolini BH2 pickups with deep lows and punchy mids. Set the groove free with an EHB bass from Sweetwater!
Bartolini BH2 passive pickups deliver classic soapbar pickup tone on demand. Their dual-coil humbucking design bucks the annoying hum, but delivers the beefy tone. They’re amazingly responsive, too. Dig in, and they growl with the big cats. Pull back, and they’re sweet and clear. Go ahead: slap and pop — they thrive on abuse! Bartolini’s Classic Bass series pickups are popular with progressive, jazz, gospel, and metal musicians for whom articulation is critical. Ask any tone-savvy bass player at Sweetwater, and they’ll confirm that, onstage or in the studio, your bass will sound incredible with Bartolini BH2 soapbar pickups.
Ibanez designed the EHB ergonomic headless bass for players who crave a lighter instrument with all the possible speed and fluidity capable of a bass guitar. To do this, the company engineered the entire bass with ergonomics in mind, taking into account how the hand should rest on the fingerboard, the slope of the neck, and the selection of tonewoods. And so the EHB ended up with a sleek American basswood body that looks, feels, and sounds amazing. Joining that is a 5-piece roasted maple/walnut neck with a comfortable profile and a roasted bird’s-eye maple fingerboard featuring luminescent side dot inlays for confident fretwork on dark stages. And Ibanez went all out on hardware: this bass harbors 24 medium stainless steel frets, custom Ibanez tuning machines, and the famous Mono-rail V bridge. Unlike single-body bridges, each Mono-rail saddle is completely separate from the others and double-anchored, creating minimal sympathetic vibration and promoting efficient energy transfer between string and body. You'll feel and hear the difference!
Ibanez began its life in 1908 as the Hoshino Gakki company in Nagoya, Japan. However, the company didn’t get into the guitar business until 1929, when it started importing Salvador Ibanez guitars from Spain. In 1935, Hoshino Gakki began building Spanish acoustic guitars under the “Ibanez Salvador” name, which was later shortened to Ibanez. Although Ibanez began manufacturing electric guitars in 1957, the company was relatively unknown in the West until the 1960s, when it started producing guitars based on American designs. By the late 1970s, Ibanez stopped producing derivative instruments and began manufacturing the innovative original guitar and bass designs that the company is now known for. Ibanez is also famous for its effect pedals, most notably the Tube Screamer. Sweetwater is proud to offer to you such a fine line of distinguished musical instruments.
