an old wooden, African tribal art mask, known as:

ELU

a dance mask, representing an ancestor spirit of the Ogoni People

with a white kaolin pigmented face and adjustable / hinged jaw,

on the forehead perhaps the remains of a raised element (see pictures)

beautiful shaped lips with reddish pigment,

inside you will find wooden teeth, 

the movable lower jaw is attached to the upper, here probably with some replaced materials,

age: probably early 20th Century

condition: stable, signs of age and use, much abraded patina, at the lower jaw 2x a restoration with visible glue, several old - now harmless - bugholes, do look at all pictures for the condition, 

we did not clean, nor polish it, we have done nothing to make it more appealing or interesting

height: circa 22 cm / 8.6 inch

width: circa 17,5 cm / 6.8 inch

weight circa 223 gr.
