Condition: As shown in the five images,
above – The fabric has been stretched a lot, leaving it thin in many places,
but there are no actual holes or tears in it that I can see. The red color has
migrated to a lot of places where it’s not meant to be.
The text
on this scarf, “Fluctuat Nec Mergitur” is the city motto of Paris on the city’s
coat of arms. According to Wikipedia, it means "[She] is
tossed [by the waves], but does not sink"
Note that
the can-can dancer appears in two different poses.
Date of
this very vintage scarf… 1950-ish maybe…? Possibly earlier.
