This auction is for a very charming antique sampler hand stitched by Mary Evans, probably in the mid Victoria era. Mary has 'signed' the sampler but it is not dated.

This is quite a statement sampler. It is very colourful with oversized birds, butterflies, plus a big duck and lovely floral decoration. Mary has personalised her work with the poignant  words, 'to remember me' and the sampler possibly offers a clue to where Mary lived, I know of a Myrtle Hill in Pembrokeshire.

The sampler is in good condition mainly because it has been protected by the glass in the frame, but the frame looks to me to be fairly modern.

Approximate measurements, including the frame: 29", 75 cm height x 38", 96 cm width. The sampler is about 66 x 85cm.

Please take time to view all of the photographs as these are always the most helpful part of a condition report, but please also read the item specifics and my written condition report, prior to bidding.

Postage is £25 and due to size / weight is restricted to mainland UK addresses only.

Please note that for all my items I use a Royal Mail tracked service. It is not necessarily always the cheapest option, but it is the most reliable and frequent shipping method from rural West Wales.

Thank you for looking.
