For auction,a full series of Six, Caverswall, English Bone China Christmas Plates having a Charles Dickens theme. The plates, dated 1978 to 1983 were designed by John Ball, each in a limited edition of 1000.

 

The design around the rim of each plate is on a dark green background.  It shows holly and mistletoe sprigs picked out in gold with red holly and white mistletoe raised berries.  The edge of the plate and the central scene is banded in gold.

 

The centre of each plate depicts the individual artists’ impression of a Dickensian scene, as detailed below. (Limited Edition number in brackets).  The rear of each plate shows relevant text.

Until recently, these plated were displayed in a cabinet at home. They are in excellent condition with no chips or crazing but there is minor discolouration on some of the gold work.
