Description: It is an original copperplate antique map over 177 years old with embossed plate marks around the margins, blank on reverse, with original hand color outlining. This is from an enlarged edition with no centerfold, making it great for framing. It is from a circa 1849 from Stieler's Hand Atlas uber alle Theile der Erde, published in Gotha, Germany by Justus Perthes, a copy of the title page is included. Stieler's Hand Atlas appears in the upper right margin. The map is dated 1845 in the title area. It is by Johann Friedrich von Stulpnagel who worked closely with Stieler designing and improving upon many of the maps in the atlas. The map is not mounted, matted nor framed being sold as a single map as seen in the first pic.
Size: The map area measures approximately 12 by 15 inches (30x38cm) on a 14 by 17 1/2" page (37x45cm)
Condition: Good condition, blank on reverse, deckled top edge, embossed plate marks in margins, printed on heavy cotton paper with strong original hand color outlining as issued. There is a light dampstain in the bottom right, otherwise fairly clean with very strong original handcoloring with a nice antique appearance, see the pics. The pics are of the actual map.
