Bound with leather spine and marbled paper covered boards. The spine is scuffed and chipped with loss (see photos) is and cracking/cracked to centre. Cracking to front board/spine edge and to bottom compartment of rear spine/board edge. Paper to boards are worn and rubbed and with surface chipped patches. Board edges chipped and bumped. Internally there is extensive pencil notes/detail to front and rear endpapers. The first few leaves are straining/splitting to inner edges and have a crease. Contents are cracking/cracked to centre (corresponding to external crack), and are beginning to strain in a couple of places although leaves remain firm. Tint, faint worm trail to edge of a small section of leaves. Small stain to edge of a section of leaves. Lacking two plates and one the plates is little frayed to lower margin. A few marks and spots, and a section has been scored out. Else contents in clean condition and leaves remain firm.

The Scots Magazine was originally published in January 1739 and claims to be the oldest magazine in the world still in publication. It was intended as a rival to the London-based Gentleman's Magazine.
This fascinating work was edited by William Smellie from 1759 until 1765.

  • We offer FREE UK domestic shipping, fully tracked and insured.
  • We use several services for overseas shipping, under 5kg usually shipped via Royal Mail Tracked. Heavier shipments or faster courier services are available, and we will do our best to accommodate your preferred method.

Packaging
All our books will be carefully and securely packaged in custom made book boxes (The majority of which are produced Carbon Neutral). The Bubble packaging and boxes are all recyclable, and most tape used is environmentally friendly (we are constantly researching ways to reduce our environmental impact without compromising safe, secure and affordable shipping). We aim to send all items within 24-48 hours of payment.
