INSTRUCTIONS FOR CULTIVATION OF MINI JAPANESE LOTUS SEEDS:
1. How to grow mini lotus
Step 1: Peel a part of the mini lotus seed at the round end (concave end) of the seed (the seed has 2 round and pointed ends) so that the seed's sprouts will quickly sprout.
Step 2: Soak Japanese lotus seeds in slightly warm water, about 30-35 degrees. Change the water twice a day. It takes about 2 days for the sprouts to sprout. (call this jar jar 1)
Step 3: Prepare the planting pot. Put clean mud or soil in the pot, bowl, or cup to plant the lotus (not the pot in which the seeds are growing). Dissolve the mud/soil and let it settle. (This is called pot 2).
Step 4: After about a week, when there are young leaves, we take the seeds from jar 1 and put them in jar 2 (at this time the mud has settled).
Step 5: Occasionally, mix fertilizer into the lotus pot
Step 6: Wait for the plant to bloom ^^
2. How to plant and care for mini lotus
- How to plant:
+ Planting pots: Use pots and jars to cover the drainage hole, 1 pot = 1 part mud + 2 parts water or 1 pot = 1 part mud + 1 part water. For lotus flowers, you should use pots and jars that are larger in size than water lily pots. On average, one tree can be planted in a pot with a diameter of 30cm and a height of 25cm; pots with larger diameters should be used.
+ Planting material: Use mud or fertile soil that has been soaked in water. If you don't have mud, you can replace it with finely ground flower-growing soil without impurities (no sawdust, coconut fiber, or rice husk ash).
+ Planting plants in pots: Gently cover the lotus root with mud, avoiding breaking the roots and lotus sprouts (do not bury deeply). When finished planting, wash off mud and soil from the leaves and stems.
- Fertilizing: Fertilize after 1 month after planting
+ Aquatic fertilizer (green round pellets): 1 pellet/bush/time/month (press deep into the mud, 10cm from the base).
+ Organic fertilizer: 1 small teaspoon (10-15 seeds)/1 bush/1 time/10 days (wrapped in newspaper or old lotus leaves, pressed deep into the mud, 10cm from the base).
+ NPK fertilizer: Sprinkle a few granules of slow-dissolving fertilizer into the mud close to the pot wall, should be applied once a month
+ Note: Fertilizers should be applied alternately, not in large amounts to avoid damage to the plant. The time to fertilize each type should be spaced apart, do not fertilize multiple types at the same time. - Take care of:
+ Lotus is a light-loving plant, so it should be kept in a sunny place for it to grow well.
+ Water used for watering lotus should use well water or tap water that has been drained into the pot for a while (to reduce chlorine, fluoride or other types of water disinfectants). Do not use tap water from the faucet directly into potted plants.
+ You should add water to the pot 1-2 times a week. When adding water, water so that the water in the pot flows out.
+ Cut off wilted flowers, dead leaves, and pests.
