This listing is for a vintage sports "YELL-A-PHONE" or small megaphone. The exterior is marked, "A.C.C. WILDCATS." (The A.C.C. stands for Abilene Christian College.) A tag on the INSIDE is marked, "YELL-A-PHONE PAT. APPL. FOR...MFG BY YELL-A-PHONE CORP...MEMPHIS 6, TENN." Note the old "Postal Code" (6) in the address. This was made PRIOR to the introduction of the 5-digit Zip Code in 1964. Over the years I've seen several of these "Yell-A-Phones" for different college & pro sports teams, but they were always made of PLASTIC. This example seems to be made of a plastic coated or shellacked (?) cardboard, or similar material. The seam is fastened together with metal brads. (I think this is one of the earliest examples.) It measures 7 & 1/4 inches long. The condition is VERY GOOD. A piece of tape with the name "JANET" is attached to the inside. The large opening is a little bent out of shape, but not too bad. The exterior surface has yellowed and has some soiling. It still has the original metal chain, and the round metal mouthpiece is clean. It displays very nicely, and is guaranteed to be old & original or your money back.
