The 60th Anniversary of Enforcement of the Local Autonomy Law (Nagano) 500 yen Bicolor Clad Coin.

The front of the coin depicts Zenkoji temple and Ox.This is derived from an old tale.
Once upon a time, there lived a greedy and mean old woman in Shinano Province. One day, when I was washing and drying a white cloth, a cow caught it with its horns and ran away. It followed the cow forever. The place where the cow had fled was Zenkoji Temple. When I gingerly entered the main hall, I saw letters made of cow drool that were shining. It probably means, ``Don't think it's just something a cow did, but this is how God guided your heart to follow the path of Buddhism.'' It is said that the old woman's Buddhist heart, which had been dormant deep within her heart, was opened, and she was able to abandon her self-interest and enter the path of faith. In some cases, it is used to mean that something unexpected happens to lead you in the right direction.
