Squirrel nesting boxes are made from solid pine instead of plywood. Unlike other listings these boxes are made for use, not ornamental. They are larger and sturdier compared to competitors and are made for wildlife use not looks. Wildlife use and safety are the most important factors with our box design. Our box is designed to last many years usage. Each box features two heavy duty hinges for opening the box for filling or cleaning. Lid is secure from predators with a galvanized locking latch and quick link. The internal shelf acts as a predator guard preventing unwanted wildlife from access. Slanted lid assists in keeping the interior dry from rain and snow. Drainage holes at the bottom provide both ventilation and drainage (drainage holes are not shown in pictures). Includes six philips screws for direct mounting but other mounting methods are possible. Box comes fully assembled and ready for mounting.

Setup and mounting suggestions:

-Stuff bottom with 2" of nesting material such as dried leaves.

-Face box opening opposite of prevailing winds.

-Select trees 10" or larger in diameter for mounting

-Install 15' or higher to discourage unwanted visitors from accessing the nest

-Ladders are inherently dangerous, exercise caution while mounting

-Box can be mounted a variety of different ways

-Slightly loosen mounting hardware yearly to account for tree growth

-Philips screws provided. Six screws are provided but only two screws on top backplate and two on the bottom are needed to firmly attach to a tree. Other methods of mounting require hardware which isn't provided.
