Here is a TERRIFIC 1870s John Wanamaker Sterling Silver Aesthetic 7 1/2" Master Butter Knife Weighing 42.83 Grams. THIS IS A GORGEOUS Early Sterling Butter Knife in EXCELLENT CONDITION. The tip has a small curl, but I did not try to straighten it. Signed with a sterling mark and a Wanamaker mark as shown. The Wanamaker department store in Philadelphia sold private label sterling silver beginning in 1869. This is a nice early example with a fantastic aesthetic design. Monogrammed with a B on the handle as shown.
Size is 7 1/2 inches long. Weight is 42.83 grams.
This came out of an old estate in Western Pennsylvania.
