The drug "Permethrin ointment 4%" is used for scabies.

Composition
The active substance is permethrin (1 g of ointment contains 40 mg of permethrin).
Excipients:
ethanol 96%,
carbomer 980,
triethanolamine,
purified water.
Contraindication
hypersensitivity to the active substance, other pyrethroids or pyrethrins or to any auxiliary substance;
acute inflammatory diseases of the scalp.
Application method
Apply a small amount of ointment in a thin layer to the areas of the skin affected by scabies and carefully rub it into the skin with massaging movements. 24 hours after the procedure, the ointment must be washed off with soap and water and the clothes changed. As a rule, the procedure should be carried out once, but if the itching does not stop or new elements of scabies appear (a sign of insufficient effectiveness), after 14 days (not earlier), the treatment should be repeated.

Features of application

Pregnant
The drug is not recommended for use during pregnancy, except when the expected benefit to the mother exceeds the potential risk to the fetus and child. Breastfeeding should be stopped during the treatment period.

Children
Contraindicated for use in children under 2 months. Children aged 2 months and older should use the drug as prescribed by a doctor.

Drivers
There are no reports on the effect of the drug on the ability to drive vehicles or work with complex mechanisms.

Overdose
There is no information on cases of overdose. In case of an overdose, the symptoms listed in the "Side effects" section may increase.
In case of overdose, it is necessary to stop using the drug, wash the skin with a large amount of warm water. It is possible to use antihistamines.

Side effects
In some cases, an irritating effect on the skin, a feeling of burning, tingling or tingling, increased itching, swelling, numbness of the skin, paresthesia, pain, erythema, eczema, allergic reactions, including skin rashes, edema, are possible. In such cases, the use of the ointment should be stopped. In patients with scabies, itching may continue for 4 weeks after the end of treatment. This may be due to the presence of an allergic reaction to the dead remains of the scabies mite under the skin and does not indicate the ineffectiveness of the treatment.

Storage conditions
Store in the original packaging at a temperature not higher than 25 °C, in a place inaccessible to children.
