Jazz-rock guitarist Al Di Meola plays live with Speak a Volcano in Leverkusen, Germany in November 2006. The show includes many compositions written by Al Di Meola himself, as well as five Piazzolla tunes.
After three decades of a remarkable career and exploration of various musical styles, Al Di Meola remains among the most revered guitarists in jazz and jazz-rock. Performing alongside "Speak A Volcano" in Leverkusen, and joined by his longtime collaborator and exceptional percussionist Gumbi Ortiz, Al Di Meola rekindled his passion for the electric guitar while embracing contemporary influences. The outcome is a delicate balance between electrifying sonic journeys and emotionally resonant melodies, between spirited improvisations and heartfelt dialogues, featuring many of Di Meola's original compositions along with five pieces by Piazzolla.
In his inaugural "electric" DVD, Al Di Meola showcases his full spectrum of talents, offering an irresistible display of intensity and virtuosity. Recorded in 2007, this performance captures the essence of his musical prowess in stunning detail.
