In today's time, every Omega enthusiast has the opportunity to choose from three variations of the Seamaster: the Seamaster Professional, Seamaster Planet Ocean, and Seamaster Aqua Terra. Of all the modern models, the Seamaster Aqua Terra comes closest to the original with its dress style, but as expected, there has been significant evolution since then – both in the brand's design and the tastes of its watch enthusiasts. All feature a screw-down crown, and except for the GMT, they all have a helium escape valve positioned at 10 o'clock.

The automatic versions use the Omega-modified ETA 2892 movement. When the series was introduced, it used the Omega 1109, but in 1996, Omega replaced it with the Omega 1120 to improve the movement's durability by adding a rhodium coating. In 2006, the Omega Seamaster began using the Co-Axial Omega 2500 (also based on the ETA 2892). Each Seamaster Pro has a unidirectional bezel – initially with an aluminum insert, but in 2012, Omega started offering the Seamaster Pro with a ceramic insert.

The model presented here was introduced in 2008 to mark the premiere of the 22nd film featuring the invincible gentleman, James Bond. The series is limited to 10,007 pieces, and references to the film are everywhere – the dial is marked "007" in red near the date at 3 o'clock, and the case back bears the "007" insignia.
