Large old tin cylinder hanging box

I am not sure if it is for a newspaper or for candles

Measuring 14.5 inches long

and the ends measure 4 inches in diameter

In very good antique condition - 

Opens and closes well - a couple of small dents and a nice old crusty surface patina
