Beautiful and romantic, antique mid-19th century embroidered stockings. Possibly from the 1850s to the 1860s. The black embroidery work is stunning. Nice contrast with the off white cream color. The material is strong and possibly cotton and wool blend.

From the top of the opening to the ball of foot measures 25” 1/4 inches. From the front of the foot to the top of the stockings measures 28” 1/2 inches. The length of the foot measures 7” 3/4 inches. The opening of the stockings measures 5” 1/2 inches long.

They’re on used condition with some age stains on both of them. A hole on the left stocking, as well as some snags to some of the black embroidery. All shown in the photos.

On the top of the left stockings is embroidered 100xx. I’m unsure what this means could be a makers mark, size, etc. They both have some creases in places. There’s also a seam on the sides of them as well. There’s also some light reddish brown age discoloration on the feet and stockings as shown.
