The elaborate bindings of the books are facsimiles of the original art bindings of the various government’s copies of the Versailles Peace Treaty. In the case of these books: V2-Belgium, V3-Britain, V 4-Italy.
Each book features four sepia-tone illustration plates covered with tissue guards.

CONDITION:
These hard-cover books are in very good condition. There are no dust jackets. The elaborately decorated cloth hardcovers are clean and show only light wear at the corners and spine ends. There is a bookplate on the front endpaper of each volume. The upper page edges of the books are gilt. Volume 4 has a few problems: there is a black streak across the rear board, there is some mild water damage barely visible to the upper part of both boards, the upper 1/2 inch of most inner pages show evidence of water (not pronounced), the binding is cracked after the second blank endpaper. Volumes 2 and 3 do not have these issues. Overall, the interiors are are nice with no names, marks, underlining, tears or odor. The paper is a bit toned with age. Most pages are still uncut (the books were bound “artistically” with untrimmed page edges so they must be opened with a dull knife to be read). The hinges and binding are excellent with no loose or missing pages.
