Ann Petry (October 12, 1908 – April 28, 1997) was an American writer of novels, short stories, children's books and journalism. Her 1946 debut novel The Street became the first novel by an African-American woman to sell more than a million copies.

CONDITION:
This hard-cover book is in very good condition with a good+ dust jacket. The greenish-yellow cloth hardcover is clean and shows only slight wear at the corners. There is some discoloration at the outer board tips. Not sure if this is moisture or fading as the corners don’t appear swollen or weak. The interior is excellent with no names, marks, underlining, tears or odor. The hinges and binding are excellent with no loose or missing pages.
The dust jacket is complete with price intact on the front flap, but is rubbed and a bit worn at the edges and corners. The edges are chipped in the upper and lower spine areas. The spine area is faded. There are several small tears (1/2” or less) along the edges which have been stabilized on the back with acid-free archival tissue tape. This dust jacket will come protected in a new Brodart mylar dust jacket protector.
