Baseball Bat

The legend himself and the Lou Gehrig of our era – Cal Ripken, Jr. – One of the best shortstops to have ever played the game and one of only a few who played their entire career with one team, in this case, the Baltimore Orioles from 1981-2001. He was a 19x All-Star, a World Series Champ, 2x AL MVP, AL 1982 Rookie of the Year, 2x Gold Glove Winner, and 8x Silver Slugger Award winner along with a host of other incredible awards including the MLB record of 2,632 consecutive games played. He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007.

This is a whopper of a vintage Ripken bat that is in Very Good to Excellent condition overall. Very minor surface wear. Evidence of use visible – ball marks, etc. No grain swelling seen. However, the handle is cracked but the bat remains strong. Nice patina. Lettering and branding is fantastic! It measures 36 inches long and weighs 35.8oz. “6” on the knob.

I would likely date this bat to the mid-late 1990s. A nice bat perfect for autographs especially with Ripken appearing this year in Cleveland for the National Sports Collectors Convention. A great piece that would make a nice addition to any great memorabilia collection.
