The official title of this double album is THE BEATLES but it is generally known as 'The White Album' because of the white gatefold sleeve with no printing on front or back; the name of the album, THE BEATLES, is in raised impressed lettering on the front of the cover. Each album cover was stamped with a unique 7-digit serial number, over 5 million numbered copies were sold. The first 300,000 copies were mostly mono records, and sold out in a matter of days. This copy of the album has a very low serial number and I consider it a collectors item.

I bought this a few days after the album was released (22nd November 1968) , hence its serial number is very low - 0031576.  A first pressing, it is in monaural sound and the labels contain a misprint - the 'An EMI Recording' rubric is missing. The cover is top opening; later versions of the cover are side opening. The inner sleeves are of black paper, as specified by The Beatles. The original four photos of John, Paul, George and Ringo are present, as is the poster / lyric sheet.

Both sides of disk 1 are in Very Good Plus(VG+) condition; side 2 of disk 2 is Good Plus(G+). Side 1 of disk 2 has some damage but it is playable with no skipped groves, and the music can be enjoyed; it is rated Good(G).

All items from Verity Vinyls are part of a personal collection of records, musical manuscripts and books, started in 1953 when the collector, then aged 12 years, bought his first LP - a symphony by Mahler. He is now disposing of a selection of items from his collection. Unless otherwise stated, all disks are tested before despatch, and are shipped in professional box mailers with additional stiffening pads, specifically designed for vinyl records.
