Crazy Low start price - and NO RESERVE...

This lot is for an authentic and original Seiko 7002 Automatic Scuba Diver's Watch, originally manufactured in May 1995. This terrific Seiko watch has been professionally serviced and expertly refurbished. The full Seiko caseback Reference Number is 7002-7000 A1.

In excellent pre-owned condition, with a customised 'waffle' finish Seiko Dial in a handsome blue, with oversized 'Monster' dial markers trimmed in a shocking lime. The dial has a 'Quickset' date display window. I've also added a new Chapter Ring, and new custom '7002' style hands. I've fitted a brand new scratch-resistant Mineral Crystal, a terrific new ceramic 'Sub' style Bezel Insert, and a new aftermarket Seiko 'Accordion' rubber diver's strap.

This classic Scuba Diver's watch has been professionally Serviced and regulated, and is running beautifully, keeping accurate time. The large dual-finish steel case has been expertly polished and rebrushed, and is in excellent condition. I've upgraded the luminous treatment to the hands and markers (and the excellent bezel insert is luminous too). I'll also provide a full Seiko instruction manual (in a downloadable/printable PDF file).

A nice bonus with this one - my watchmaker has pressure-tested the watch for water resistance, to a depth rating of 100M (10 BAR) - this means that the watch will be fine for use in water (shallow swimming, surface snorkelling etc). I would not recommend it for use in more robust activities (high/board diving, scuba diving, impact sports), and would advise against sustained use in hot water (sauna/steamroom/hot shower).

Please read on.

Dial/Hands  Customised Scuba Diver's dial, in a rich blue, with a subtle textured effect finsh. The dial is signed 'SEIKO' above centre, and 'Automatic, Divers 150m' below centre. The large dial markers are in the distinctive Monster fangs style, larger again at the quarters and doubled at 12, all with an applied luminous centre, and trimmed in a shocking lime. There's a framed 'Quickset' Date window at 3 o'clock (in the rarer 'white on black' font). The new chapter ring is a bright white with minute markers, and complements the dial nicely. It's set at an angle, which adds an impression of extra depth to the dial.

The hands are new, lume-filled, in the classic 7002 style - an arrowhead minute hand, a grey-trimmed wide broadsword hour hand, while the seconds hand is a grey 'needle' with a luminous circle at the base of the counterbalance. I've upgraded the luminous treatment on the hands and markers, they shine beautifully after exposure to light - the glow won't shine all night, but the effect lasts for a decent spell, which is a nice bonus (typical refurbished or aftermarket dials and hands don't generally have much 'lume', if any). See the gallery photos which show the luminous effect after brief exposure to a bright light.

Case Large stainless steel case in excellent condition, with a highly-polished finish to the sides, and a satin-brushed finish to the upper surfaces (I've had this expertly polished and rebrushed, and it has come up beautifully - I can't see any obvious marks, even up close, but to cover myself there may be some tiny 'hairlines' on the steel finish at worst, though certainly no obvious nicks or scratches). The case edges are crisp and nicely defined.

Bezel Bidirectional steel Bezel, good medium resistance, turns smoothly with 60 nicely ratcheted 'clicks'. In excellent condition, and fitted with a new ceramic 'Sub' style Bezel Insert, in blue, printed with elapsed-time markings. The insert has a very unusual luminous effect, not super strong or particularly long-lasting, but very effective after exposure to light.

Caseback The screwdown Caseback is in very good condition, again expertly cleaned and lightly polished, with minimal marks. The manufacturer wording on the caseback is clear and legible, and reads as follows: "Seiko, Stainless Steel, 7002-7000 A1, Scuba Diver's, 555667, A, Lightning Flash symbol" plus the Seiko Wave logo in the centre.

Crown I've fitted a new screwdown ridged-edge steel crown (and stem), offset at the 4 o'clock position, which screws down to lock and adjusts correctly. The case tube has been inspected, and is in good order.

Crystal New scratch resistant Mineral Crystal, in excellent condition, with no marks of any kind (checked under magnification).

Movement Seiko 7002A 17 Jewel Automatic movement. I've had the movement professionally serviced and regulated (fitted with a 7009A service replacement rotor), and the watch is running strong and true. The Serial Number indicates the original manufacturing date as May 1995. New gaskets have been fitted.

Strap A brand new aftermarket Seiko Z22 'Accordion' ridged rubber Diver's strap has been fitted, with a floating keeper, along with a new brushed steel buckle. I've used 'Fat' Seiko Spring Bars, which are a much better fit for these straps, and help to ensure that the case lug holes don't get worn and loose. Will comfortably fit a wrist size of up to 8.5" (220mm+).

Running Condition Running, and keeping excellent time. As well as the Service, I've regulated the movement, and tested it using a professional timing machine. The watch has also been 'bench-tested' twice on an automatic winder, over at least 24 hours each time, and is accurate to better than +/-30 seconds per day max. (anything under 30 seconds a day is excellent for a vintage automatic).

Measurements Width without crown - 42mm (46mm including crown), Lug to Lug - 44.8mm, depth 13.2mm. Weight total 100 grams. To give you an idea of how the watch will wear on an average-sized wrist, have a look at the the 'wrist-shot' pictures - the watch is shown on a strap sized to 7 to 7.5 inches (180 to 190mm).

Other - This a terrific Seiko Diver's Automatic watch, in a large 42mm, which wears quite proudly on the wrist as it's a touch over 13mm deep. Even though it's on a Seiko style 'Accordion' rubber Diver's strap, it's a weighty 100 grams, and feels solid and well constructed, with a substantial wrist presence. The 17 Jewel Seiko 7002A Automatic movement has been fully serviced and regulated, and is working beautifully, the watch keeps accurate time.

The large dual-finish steel Diver's case has been expertly rebrushed and repolished, and looks excellent.

I've fitted a new ceramic 'Sub' style Bezel Insert, which is very smart addition, and looks great set against the handsome blue 'waffle' dial with the Monster layout and 7002 hands. The 'shocking lime' accenting to the markers adds a nice twist too - they go together really well, and add to the iconic Scuba Diver's appearance. I've upgraded the luminous treatment to the custom hands and markers, and they glow nicely after exposure to light, and it lasts a little while too.

Though pre-owned, this watch really is in very good condition, with only minimal signs of any use, and has clearly been maintained well. I'll send the winning bidder a downloadable/printable PDF File with the full Seiko instructions, which will show you how to change the date and maintain the watch etc.

This model is no longer in production, and certainly didn't look like this originally, but I'm sure it will have cost more than my starting price. Plus I'm listing the watch with NO RESERVE - you could get a top Seiko Automatic Scuba Divers watch, fitted with a custom Dial, Hands and Insert, expertly refurbished and professionally Serviced, and pressure tested too, at a real bargain price!

I've tried to be as accurate as I can in the description of this watch, please read the description and look at the photographs carefully. You should study the photographs, which I've taken in close up detail - it will be enable you to evaluate the cosmetic condition far more accurately than I can describe it.

Any questions, please ask - I have described the item as thoroughly and honestly as possible - but I'll try and help if I can!

Please Note: The majority of watches I sell are pre-owned, or New, but Old Stock. Whilst I go to every effort to describe the watches accurately, you should be aware that should a watch be marked Water Resistant or Waterproof, that was the case when it left the factory, and is not necessarily the case now.  Unless specifically stated, these watches are not fully serviced (though they will have been inspected inside and out). Unless specifically stated, I offer no guarantees as to the current level of Water Resistance. If the winning bidder requires the watch to be Pressure Tested, I can arrange this for an at-cost fee (£25). Similarly, though I test all watches for accuracy and describe accordingly, this is no guarantee of future performance. Vintage automatic or hand-winding watches are by definition less accurate than their modern quartz counterparts. When purchasing a vintage watch, especially of high value, I would always advise the buyer to have the item inspected by a qualified jeweller, who should be able to identify any issues that I may have missed, and advise on water resistance, or servicing requirements.  Of course, should any issue then come to light, I will do everything possible to assist - as you can see from my 100% Feedback!
