Another group of rare, obsolete parts from the ol' Lunch Pail ...this time, is a partial kit of decals. 'Laser' stripes !
Specifically, this kit was the 'Brown / Gold with Black Border' version, spec'd as original equipment for all of Ford's 1971 Intermediate models, even including Ranchero and Torino Squire units.
Close inspection shows the vinyl film is still soft & flexible. The backing paper peels off easily, but it reveals old, weakened adhesive. Where I tested it, the top-sheet was not sticking to the stripes.
I have 6 pieces from the original 8, so the questions is: What's in the box?
Most of the pieces are marked for vehicle placement, but one (a long door section) isn't. I did my best to figure it out by laying them on the floor. Strikethrough (text) means that piece is not included.:
- R/H Quarter Panel
R/H Door
- R/H Fender — Rear
R/H Fender — Front
- L/H Quarter Panel
- L/H Door
- L/H Fender — Rear
- L/H Fender — Front
To be absolutely clear,: I do not guarantee that you can apply these, as-is. Installing old vinyl decals is very tricky...not for the fainthearted and should be done by someone with significant experience.
Is your car's restoration for personal pride or a hunt for show-points? Either way, you can't go wrong by choosing NOS parts. Don't miss out ! |
