Another cool dealership display item, from the Lunch Pail !

This in-car sign was included in dealer marketing kits, during model years 1968 and 1969. The ’68 new-car intro had gone poorly, largely due to a UAW strike that idled production for nearly two months.

Dealers demanded more and better cooperative marketing. This led to a series of regional models with unique option packages (e.g.: ‘California Special’ GT/CS), which called for ‘Introduction’ signage.

After a spike both in sales & media coverage. CEO Lee Iacocca saw an opportunity. As he'd one with the '64½' Mustang, Iacocca arranged for 3 mid-year ('1969½') models: Maverick, Boss 302 and Boss 429.

The rest is history!

Despite being more than 50 years old, this example is a beauty — it's in truly mint condition, with both of the peel-off strips still intact. Folks, nowadays even I can't find cool mid-'60s display stuff like this.
