For sale is this late 19th century French academical drawing, part of a folio of simular academical drawings by the same artist. The folio was a recent find on a market near Le Mans (Sarthe region).
The drawing, executed in charcoal on 19th century laid paper, shows a study of a classical sculpture, depicting Erato, the muse of lyric poetry.

Authorship : the drawing is from the French School.
Period : ca. 1890-1900.
Size : 48,8x31,5cm.
Condition : Fairly good. Some scattered dirt throughout. Sides slightly irregular of shape, slightly damaged, small fragments of paper missing. Top and bottom side : traces of wrinkling. Corners, right side : traces of folding. Unframed.
