“The Horses of Sable Island”

By: Barbara J. Christie

No one can hear the name "Sable Island" Without thinking of the horses that freely roam the dunes on this 20-mile sandbar that lies off the coast of Nova Scotia. The Horses of Sable Island traces the possible origins of this herd, drawing together clues from the fascinating equine genealogies and historical events from many countries and sources.

Barbara Christie is a research associate with the Nova Scotia Museum of Natural History. Her lifelong interest in horses and her diligent research combine to present the history of the horses who roam the dunes. This newly revised edition has additional photographs and a postscript by Zoe Lucas, a researcher who has spent more than a decade studying this legendary island.

Although there are many books about Sable Island, none provides the depth and insight concerning this unique community of horses, this living laboratory of horse history.

The book is a softcover, measuring about 6 x 9 inches. It was published in Lawrencetown, N.S., in 1995. It is 110 pages long, with a selection of photographs & illustrations. Book is used, but in very good condition - no writing, no stains or soiling, clean cover & tight spine. Top bidder should add $6.99 for postage within Canada, or $12.99 for mailing to the USA. I have other, similar books up for sale now, so please check them out too! Multiple books always combined to save on postage, & full refund if you’re not happy. Thanks for looking!
