Description

1/700 scale plastic model kit of the Japanese Navy Kamikaze Destroyer Yunagi 1944.

The Kamikaze destroyer is practically the same type as the late-built ships of the pure Japanese destroyer Minekaze, with a slightly increased hull width and draft to reduce the rise in the center of gravity. As with the "Nokaze" of the Minekaze type, the 3rd and 4th guns were placed back to back, feeding and command were improved, and the aft mast was placed between them.
The bridge is also covered with metal plates on the front and sides from the time of new construction, and is equipped with a searchlight and rangefinder on the top.
Also, the four late-built ships of this type were equipped with ship's main turbine, which is not in the vein of foreign-style turbines, freeing them from the problem of main engine failure.
We also strengthened our armament by doubling the number of spare torpedoes, increasing the number of torpedo hangars, and equipping it with detonator projectors.
Yunagi was completed at Sasebo Arsenal on April 24, 1925. She was assigned to the 29th Destroyer Squadron, 6th Minesweeper Squadron, 4th Fleet. On August 25, 1944, she was struck by lightning and sank by the U.S. submarine Pickoda on the northwest coast of Luzon.

"Yunagi" is a renewed product that comes with a new bottom parts set, bottom, shaft, screw, rudder, and display stand.
•This is a reproduction of what it looked like in 1944 when anti-aircraft equipment was strengthened.
