Description

Product introduction

The pre-war seaplane carrier "Notoro" was originally completed at Kawasaki Shipyard in 1920 as a nameship for a large refueling ship, but in June 1934, it was converted into a seaplane carrier and incorporated into Sasebo Township as a replacement for the aging first-generation seaplane carrier "Wakamiya".
This tanker-shaped ship with engines at the stern is larger and has more capacity than the Wakamiya.
The aircraft were housed on the upper deck, which was covered by wooden canopies before and after the bridge.
Also, the front and rear derrick posts were strengthened and extended to lift the aircraft.
Due to the reduced visibility of the bridge as a result of this refit, a pilot house was installed in the lower foremast.
During the war, he was engaged in aircraft transport and heavy oil transport, and the war ended while he was repairing damage caused by lightning strikes by U.S. submarines.
