The Oha Series 60 was born in the name of a revamped passenger car using the bogie frame of a wooden passenger car from Taisho when the train was rebuilt during the war and when the new car was not approved by GHQ.
Later, it was converted to the Oha61 series with improved body structure, and more than 3000 cars in total were converted, including second class cars and mail baggage cars.
The Oro 61 was introduced in 1959 by modifying the Oha 61 when the seats of the old second class cars were converted to reclining seats.
One side of the deck was sealed off, latrines were added, and bogies were replaced, but the basic structure of the car body remained the same, and the pitch of the seats and windows did not match. In addition, the slow-express Olof 61, which was equipped with hand brakes in the crew compartment and taillights on the gable plates, was also introduced, and as a result of the weight classification being changed in 1967 due to air-conditioning modifications, it was renamed Slof 62 and Slof 62, and continued to be an indispensable part of night express trains until the end of the old coaches.
Surof 62-2032 was introduced in February 1970 as a slow-express version of Suro 62-2114, and was active in the Nagoya Passenger and Freight Depot, but in its later years, it was placed in the Fukui Passenger and Freight Depot, and its last activity was seen on the express train "Echizen" with the grade band omitted.
