Above the capped Liberty head is the inscription, "Liberty," and under Liberty's chin is stamped, "In God We Trust." The back of the round features a Fasces, or bunch of wooden rods tied together with an axe emerging from the top, which represents the power of ancient Roman Emperors, and is surrounded by an olive branch. The back of the round bears the legend, "999 Fine Silver, One Ounce," and, "E Pluribus Unum."
