Vintage white-bordered, deckled-edge, standard-sized black-and-white real photo postcard (RPPC) with a view of
the Martinistad square and church tower in Groningen, Holland.

Front caption reads,
"Groningen
Een groet uit de Martinistad".

Typed notes on back read,
"Market place of the town of Groningen
with rebuild row of very modern stores. The houses,
restaurants which stood there before the war, were destroyed
during the bigh fights during the liberation in 1945. The 'Martini tower',
in background, was not molested, save for a couple of bulletholes and some
damages owing to shells. This famous Dutch tower, 96 meters high,
is locally called 'Olle Grieze', a dialectic form of 'Oude Grijze', which means
'Old Grey One'. Tower and church very old, will try to find the exact
date and write it later on."
