The History:  The 442nd Regimental Combat Team was activated on February 1, 1943.  It was composed of American citizens with Japanese ancestry who had lived in the United States since their birth (the nisei).  After a year of training the 442nd embarked for Europe and joined with the 100th Infantry Battalion in Italy.  Their first action came at Suvereto, Italy where the men attacked well defended positions and captured 284 prisoners.  They next fought north of Pisa and earned a reputation for aggressive fighting while destroying the enemy.  It was sent with the Seventh Army into Southern France and was attached to the 36th Infantry Division.  On October 24, 1944, the 442nd fought their way to Hill 645 where they rescued a battalion of the 36th Division that had been completely surrounded by German forces.  They broke through to “the Lost Battalion” in four days, but had suffered over 1,800 casualties.  After a period of rest, the 442nd went back to Italy and fought against Germans in the Gothic Line.  On April 4, 1945, the 442nd scaled Mount Fragolita in full battle gear and attacked German positions from the rear.  During 5 campaigns the “Go For Broke” Regiment suffered casualties over three times the unit’s strength and earned over 18,000 medals.  The regiment was deactivated in August of 1946.

Some of these patches have been used. If an item is listed as used it may be sewn on, have some dirt on it or have loose threads. I try not to post items with excessive wear because I want you to get good quality items. I try to post good photos of each item but they get shrunk down when they appear in the listing. If you have any questions about condition, please ask me. I can email you the original photo and can make larger scans if you give me enough time. Please ask. I will be happy to give you as much information as I can about an item so that you can make an informed decision about the item before bidding. Thank you for looking at my auction and I hope you will bid.

PLEASE WAIT FOR MY INVOICE TO PAY FOR YOUR AUCTIONS. I will combine all of your items won onto one invoice and will combine shipping for your items. This saves you money.
