This antique mesh chatelaine purse is a charming little piece of history. The intricate silver mesh design of tiny flowers  is quite unusual. This bag would have been clipped to the waist of a Victorian woman's dress clothing while she was  making social calls. It's just big enough to hold her calling cards, a pencil and tiny address book.

It is not marked, so we can't be sure of it's country of origin. It could have been made in the United States, Germany or France. Mesh bags began to appear around 1890 so I estimated the age of this around 1900. This one is in perfect condition - it was never lined. It would be an excellent addition to any vintage accessories collection.
