The fifth issue of the new Lunar Series was struck by the Royal Australian Mint from one ounce of 99.9% silver and is dedicated to the Year of the Dragon. Following the tiger, the ox, the rat and the rabbit, the dragon is the fifth animal in the Chinese zodiac calendar. The motive features a dragon surrounded by auspicious clouds, the symbol of luck and good fortune. In addition, the inscription “YEAR OF THE DRAGON”, the Chinese character for “dragon” and the weight and fineness are engraved.
