Civil War cover with #63 1c blue and 2 singles of #65 3c rose, tied by two strikes of May 27, 1862 dated PHILADELPHIA/Pa. cds postmark, and with "U.S. PENNY MAIL/PHILA. PA." octagon at left, addressed to "Lieut. E. G. Scott, De Hart's Battery, McCall's Division, McDowell's Corps d'Armee, Washington, D.C.". 

De Hart's Battery, 5th US LIght Artillery, was commanded by Capt. Henry Vanderveer Hart, (1835-1862), an 1856 West Point grad; Mortally wounded at the Battle of Gaines Mill, VA on June 27, 1862, dying of his wounds on July 13, 1862.

Lt. E. G. Scott was Eben Greenough Scott, (1836-1919), was commissioned 1st Lt. in the 5th US Light Artillery on May 14, 1861, and resigned on Apr. 27, 1863. He later became an author, publishing several history books, including "Reconstruction During the Civil War in the United States of America" (1895).
