This is a very rare late 19th. century hand made Salviati, Murano, blown glass and lampwork shell vase with a domed foot and inverted scallop shell body. The main colour is a pale peachy bronze with applied cream threading. The foot rim, neck and pulled top rim are decorated with the hand applied pale cream threading. The stem has a hollow blown ribbed middle section and there are two hand applied lampworked handles.
Despite all of this delicate work, the vase is as it was when it left the Salviati Studio on Murano C.1890.
Although there is no later damage or repair I would point out that there is a gap in the threading around the neck, which is simply a minor fault in the lampwork application of the threading and not later damage, ( the loose ends are smooth to the touch and there is no sign that any thread ever ran across the short gap ). The curl at the bottom of one of the lampwork handles is a little clumsy as is the top section of the stem, but again these appear to be lampwork adjustments, not damage or repairs. See my pictures for details and feel free to ask questions if you need more information.
