Offered here is a copper or brass letter opener. Look closely, and you'll see that the bottom half of the opener is a woman's leg. The leg seems to have a nylon stocking or garter. (The leg is reminiscent of the leg lamp in "A Christmas Story.") The handle is marked, "MUSKOGEE ARTIFICIAL LIMB CO. - MEMORIAL STA. MUSKOGEE, OKLA. - G. LANGE, MGR. - PHONE 976-3." It does not have a date, but note the old 4-digit phone number. I "THINK" this was made around the 1940's - give or take. (This would be around the time that wounded service members were returning from World War II.) The letter opener measures 7 & 3/4 inches long. The condition is FAIR to GOOD. There is are blemishes, stains and a little pitting on the surface. Also some scattered scratches. It still displays nicely, and is guaranteed to be old & original, or your money back.
