Cuttings are small limb portions, from 3" to 12" inches and are taken from an older tree. The resulting tree is a clone, and thus possess it traits. When you buy from us you will receive a plant grown from a cutting. A piece which has sprouted roots, root nubs, and or leaves. It may not look like much, but I assure you of its health and propensity to develop into an attractive fruit producing beauty. We raise them using natural methods, they start fostered in a humidity grow pot (pot w/dome). Upon receiving your sprouted cuttings, you simply apply plant food and water to grow. It will produce quality fruits in year two (2). It may produce pseudo  or false figs once or twice in the first year.  They seldom ripen, and the quality is poor.  Cut them off and allow the plant to do what it wants to do, that is grow larger, much larger.  The furits pose an energy distraction.

Our cuttings  are grown in coconut coir mix, we can grow in mulch, even sawdust. These substrates make "over watering" a non-issue. We augment with clay pellets for their ability to hold water for sustained hydration. Growing cuttings will give you a two year head-start to any other method.  You receive your cutting(s) with acquired root or root nubs, and ready to burst to life. They will have leaves or leaf buds, but no mini figs since they will divert the plant energy from developing a mature root system to attempting to continue to fruit. 

 The most important factor to successful fig propagation is watering. You should deliver all the water by misting. If using tap water let sit for a few hours until water treatment chemicals evaporate.

Figs are indigenous to the Mediterranean region. The figs love the morning mist. You replicate this by keeping your cutting in a moist pot (NOT WET). Mist the plant with a sprayer every morning, and in the early evening. You can deep water (once every other week), but should spritz twice daily. Or simply water only by spraying. You can always spray more, but poured water can’t be effectively removed.
